A Brief History of modern American Protests  Civil Rights Protests started in the late 1950s After the 1954 Supreme Court ruling of Brown v. Board of Education demanding to end racial discrimination in Little Rock, Arkansas one might say this first modern day civil rights case created protest for the next 6 decades in America. Most of these protests were peaceful on each side but not the White policemen.
